The MAHAJAN Designs featured in the fashion show on April 21st, 2013, was fabulous from beginning to end. The pageant’s contestants where beautiful and talented. Veera Mahajan walked on stage with her current title of Mrs. Asia California wearing a magnificent dress designed by her son Rahul Mahajan.

By popular vote the best designer was Rahul Mahajan showcasing his Spring Rosebud Collection. The dresses fit magnificently on the models as they walked down the runway. I fell in love instantly, I wanted to wear all the dresses, specially the silk white rose bud dress. Clearly designer Rahul Mahajan is in touch with what makes a women feel and look feminine.

Designer Mahajan won over the room with his collection. I spoke with him after the show and he mention he is currently finishing a ready to wear line. I am now a fan of this talented and young designer.

For the 2nd Annual International Womens’ Day discussion circle at Diesel Bookstore in Malibu, local psychotherapist, Julie Carmen brought together twenty three women to discuss the topic of Care giving They discussed the topic of caregiving globally, in the community, at home and towards self. Video segments will be available online by April 1st. Originally the idea of creating an International Women’s Day Malibu tradition sprouted as a way to support our beloved independent bookstore. The women each bought books and enjoyed the small town feeling of sitting in a circle and checking in with each other.

Next time you are near Wilshire and 16th Street in Santa Monica, make a pit stop at Nawab of India, http://nawabindia.com/your taste buds won’t regret it! Known for their healthy, and freshly prepared exotic dishes from the north western region of India, Nawab’s tasty favorites include hot and cold appetizers, a dozen varieties of breads from the tandoor-oven (I got to see how the breads are made), mildly to hotly curried entrees, mesquite clay oven baked dishes, vegetarian masalas and delectable delicacies from the sea. One such marine delicacy is their Sea Bass, a top-of-the-line fish, marinated overnight and skewered on a charcoal fire. What makes this Southern Ocean fish, taste so mouth-wateringly delicious remains the chef s well-kept secret, plus a few delicate infusions of turmeric cumin and coriander Served on a sizzling platter, over a layer of supple, non-pungent onions ( just enough to soften and soak up the flavor), you’d be hard pressed not to make mmmmm sounds with each bite. As you slice sautéed through this exquisite fish, you ll notice each tender piece segment separate and melt in your mouth. If you get a chance to try it, don’t miss it! The best tasting sea bass is gone Desi (Indian style)!

Silk Hanes

Hello Everyone and Happy Valentines Day!! I don’t know how true this story is but it is a beautiful loving story non the less. I found it up on http://isabelperez.com/St%20ValentineStory.htm Enjoy the read.

I wish for a Happy Feb. 14th, 2013 for you and me! This is a day to celebrate our love for someone else. Lets also not forget ourselves. Remember to put yourself on the top of the list of people you love.

Remember to say, ” I love me too!”

Happy Valentine’s day!!

St. Valentine’s Story

Let me introduce myself. My name is Valentine. I lived in Rome during the third century. That was long, long ago! At that time, Rome was ruled by an emperor named Claudius. I didn’t like Emperor Claudius, and I wasn’t the only one! A lot of people shared my feelings.

Claudius wanted to have a big army. He expected men to volunteer to join. Many men just did not want to fight in wars. They did not want to leave their wives and families. As you might have guessed, not many men signed up. This made Claudius furious. So what happened? He had a crazy idea. He thought that if men were not married, they would not mind joining the army. So Claudius decided not to allow any more marriages. Young people thought his new law was cruel. I thought it was preposterous! I certainly wasn’t going to support that law!

Did I mention that I was a priest? One of my favorite activities was to marry couples. Even after Emperor Claudius passed his law, I kept on performing marriage ceremonies — secretly, of course. It was really quite exciting. Imagine a small candlelit room with only the bride and groom and myself. We would whisper the words of the ceremony, listening all the while for the steps of soldiers.

One night, we did hear footsteps. It was scary! Thank goodness the couple I was marrying escaped in time. I was caught. (Not quite as light on my feet as I used to be, I guess.) I was thrown in jail and told that my punishment was death.

I tried to stay cheerful. And do you know what? Wonderful things happened. Many young people came to the jail to visit me. They threw flowers and notes up to my window. They wanted me to know that they, too, believed in love.

One of these young people was the daughter of the prison guard. Her father allowed her to visit me in the cell. Sometimes we would sit and talk for hours. She helped me to keep my spirits up. She agreed that I did the right thing by ignoring the Emperor and going ahead with the secret marriages. On the day I was to die, I left my friend a little note thanking her for her friendship and loyalty. I signed it, “Love from your Valentine.”

I believe that note started the custom of exchanging love messages on Valentine’s Day. It was written on the day I died, February 14, 269 A.D. Now, every year on this day, people remember. But most importantly, they think about love and friendship. And when they think of Emperor Claudius, they remember how he tried to stand in the way of love, and they laugh — because they know that love can’t be beaten!

I recently met the Author Vish Iyer over a cup of tea at our local Starbucks. By example of his own 30 year meditation practice, coupled with, being born into a Brahmin family lineage of several generations of Vedic Yoga scholars & masters in Southern India, he is a die-hard believer that solutions to all human problems (including finding romantic love) lay in Yoga meditation and Yoga lifestyle.

Given his degrees in fields as varied as biology, French and graduate degrees in information systems and business, it is ironical to see his extraordinary insight into the psyche of love. He has lived in India, Southern Africa and the U.S, presently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Deypika. He considers, getting laid off from his software consulting position as one of his greatest blessings. His motto in life is “find happiness within first” all good things will follow.

Vish has been meditating since he was 7 years old. He was only 9 or 10 years old when he first saw a woman perform a miracle as she produced medicinal herbs out of thin air. His dad explained that she did it with just using the power of will. Then at 17, he tried to experiment with it himself. Even though he had never run a race before he visualized winning and won his first 800 m race. He tried again the next day and won again. He then knew he could believe in the power of yoga and will.

You have to work on your own spiritual and personal development first through Yoga and meditation before you get to that ideal person that you would spend the rest of your life with. Love is a superior force and not something to fulfill our immediate emotional or physical needs.

Vish has developed a systematic practice and a scientific system of meditation. He guarantees that in 6 months anyone can learn how to manifest and attract their ideal life partner. There is proof that it has been done repeatedly in the Vedic times.

With the power of Yoga, he manifested his role in his first feature film byTommy Friedman called Neshima. He plays the lead romantic. His character is the body guard of the king and queen and falls in love with the princess. It is a beautiful story with a spiritual message

Tea time spent at Leelawadee Thai massage on PCH, near Malibu Rugs was well worth it.

Matha the owner is wonderful and caring. She spends the time and takes care of all the aches and pains. She is an expert at relaxing the muscles and making you feel comfortable. She encourages you to sleep and rest while she works on you. After a full hour of the best massage I woke up relaxed and happy. She massaged and cleaned the oil with warm towels so I was ready to go back to work. A cold water bottle was waiting for me when I came out of my cozy little room of fragrance and curtains.

All the other girls are great too! They are always polite and ready to help you!

Try it if you have some time. The price is beyond reasonable. If you go before 2 pm, you pay less than $50, yes even if it is $1 less than 50, it is less than $50. So don’t complain, Enjoy!
