DSC_2178Los Angeles, CA – SABAN, South Asian Business Alliance Network, held its 8th Annual business showcase, gala award and entertainment night of South Asians in American its largest business event, SABAN2014, on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the world class Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Harbor Hotel, San Pedro, CA.  

The goal of this event to build business image, conserve the heritage, and celebrate the success of business by the vibrant and diverse South Asian (Desi) Americans. The South Asian Americans are dedicated to create the SOUTH ASIAN AMERICAN MARKET (SAAM) as an integral part of national economy.  SABAN is working towards business harmony and establishing a common goal of economic stability, growth, and prosperity of America & the business world.

Community business leaders, corporate leaders, and professional personals joined the successful event.  The program’s business showcase started at 4:00 pm, the sabanreception mixer at 6:00 pm, the award gala night at 7:00 m, and the Bollywood entertainment after 9:00 pm.  A highlight was the award gala dinner at the Ballroom attended by guests, award winners and their family and friends.

The gala event started with the opening speech by Mr. Prakash Pancholi, the past-president of SABAN. The Chief Guest & keynote speaker was Ms. Patricia M. Loui, Director of Export Import Bank of USA, Washington, DC.  Also appearing were  Ms. Suja Lowentahl, Councilmember of City of Long Beach, CA, Mr. Ali Sajjad Taj, Councilmember of City of Artesia, CA, & Ms.  Miriam Long of LA Metro.  The Emcee of the event was Mr. Dave Naidu, the entrepreneur and talented social network and power speaker.

The main attractDSC_2130ion was the SOUTH ASIAN BUSINESS AWARDS presentation, honoring the recipients at the gala event.  The different award honorees to Ms. Rubina Chaudhary, the Best South Asian Entrepreneur; Mr. Moninder Birdi, the Best Service in Excellence; Ms. Veera Mahajan, the Best Media Entrepreneur; Moazzem Chowdhury, the Best Bangladeshi American Entrepreneur; Jafar Rashid, the Best Pakistani American Entrepreneur, and finally, Ms. Palbinder Badesha, the Best Women Entrepreneur.  Also, Ms. Patricia Loui received the Chairman’s award.

The founder and Executive Director of the event is Mohammed Islam, the Award Committee Chair was Prakash Pancholi and the other event team members were Bruce Ferguson, Anita Ahmed, Tariq Babu, Alima Islam, Laqiya Islam, Salomee Ahmed, & many others.  The audience was also treated to a lovely performance by Ms. Akhila. The sponsors of the event were LA Metro, The Union Bank, S. C. Edison, Covered California, MARRS Service, Birdi & Associates, MALIBU Chronicles, MJM Healthcare, Express Employment, UMS Banking, &  Law Office of Amy Ghosh. The evening concluded with meeting and greeting the business and corporate leaders,  business networking, photo options, press interviews and an after party.
